Choosing the right cookie banner

There are several cookie banners available, but not all solutions work equally well with your tracking tools. We specifically recommend Cookiebot and Cookiecode, as they work optimally with Google Tag Manager. These tools offer a user-friendly interface and allow you to easily comply with AVG/GDPR regulations. Furthermore, there are also other CMPs you can use to load a cookie banner, only not all of them work equally well with Google Tag Manager. This is because within Google Tag Manager you need to be able to read and process the given permissions of your visitors.

When setting up a cookie banner, it is important to pay attention to the configuration within the CMP dashboard itself. This is where you determine important aspects such as:

  1. What consent categories you offer (necessary, preferences, statistics, marketing)
  2. The texts and buttons displayed to visitors
  3. The design and layout of your cookie banner
  4. The languages in which your cookie banner is available

Are you using Server-Side Tagging? Then there's more you need to consider. The combination of a cookie banner, Google Tag Manager and Server-Side Tagging requires a specific configuration.
